'Loka Dekai, Eka Jeewithayai", a film about the plight of rural women in Sri Lanka will be screened at 3.30pm on the 4th of June 2009 at WMC (174, Alwis Avenue, Castle Street, Colombo 08).
WMC will be holding a felicitation and meeting with women who have been elected to office following Provincial Council elections held in 2008/09. It will be held at the Sri Lanka Foundation Instituta (SLFI) on the 3rd of June 2009 from 4.00 pm. 6.00 p.m.

Lets light a candle for Democracy
An open invitation for all citizens who value democracy to light a candle every Thursday from 6-7pm at the roundabout in Alexandra Place, Colombo 07.
Sammuthiya, a panel discussion on women and politics is broadcasting on Swarnavahini every Monday at 10pm.
Local Government Election Bill is currently in its second reading in Parliament. The bill proposes a 30% quota for females in Local Government election nominations.
